Berberis Pentarkan is the homoeopathic preparation for the treatment of renal calculi and uric acid disorders. It regulates kidney functions. It relieves the pain during urination. It regulates the metabolic disturbances. It has antiseptic, hemostatic and diuretic action. It is a specific medicine for gouty arthritis.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the physician, it has to be taken as 1-2 tablets every hour, and once the acute complaints are start to subside, 1 tablet every two hours should be taken.

Berberis Pentarkan is the balanced formulation of four important remedies such as Berberis vulgaris, Lycopodium clavatum, Urtica urens and Taraxacum. Berberis vulgaris is indicated in gouty and rheumatic conditions, gall stones and medical catarrh. It is indicated in burning pains, the sensation of some urine remaining after urinating, urine with thick mucus and bright red mealy sediments, bubbling sensation, soreness in the region of kidneys, pain in the loins and thighs on urinating and frequent urination. The kidneys are inflamed, bloody urine, and pains radiating to the back worse from exertion.

Lycopodium clavatum is suitable for persons with uric acid diathesis, with symptoms of pain which shift from right to left, worse from 4 to 8 pm, red sand in urine, backache, worse before urination, calculi gallbladder, urine flow in slow, must strain, retention of urine, polyuria during the night and heavy red sediment. It is also a remedy for chronic gout with chalky deposits, painful callosities on soles, toes, and fingers contracted. Urtica urens are indicated in uric acid diathesis, lithiasis and skin conditions. It is a remedy for rheumatism associated with urticaria-like eruptions. Pain in the deltoid region which is acute due to gout, and pain in the ankles and wrists. Taraxacum is indicated in neuralgia of knee, limbs painful to touch and better by pressure.
