JUSTICIA ADHATODA
Justicia adhatoda is also known as Vasaka. It was introduced by Dr. S. C. Ghose and is covered by Boericke materia medica, Robin Murphy Homoeopathic Remedy Guide, S.R.Phatak Materia Medica of Homoeopathic Medicines, Anshutz New old and forgotten remedies and others. The clinical verification was done by Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, India and published in CCRH Quarterly Bulletin, Vol. 19 (3&4) 1997. Leaves are used for the preparation of mother tincture. A combined materia medica from available literatures is given below.
Mind
Irritable, easily angered. Sensitive to external impressions.
Vertigo
Vertigo worse in evening.
Head
Dull aching pain in frontal region better pressure. Heaviness in the head due to cold. Heaviness and feeling of fullness in head.
Nose
Coryza with thin, watery profuse discharge worse morning. Constant sneezing with loss of smell worse morning. Acrid watery discharge, blockage of nose worse night. Coryza, discharge thin watery profuse with constant sneezing worse dark room. Coryza with thin nasal discharge and sneezing worse in the evening. Coryza with thick white expectoration, blockage of nose. Sensitive to dust, catches cold easily. Frequent sneezing. Post nasal catarrh.
Mouth
Profuse thirst with dryness of mouth.
Throat
Pain in the throat. Tonsillitis worse on swallowing.
Stomach
Thirst increased. Anorexia. Vomiting after coughing.
Abdomen
Distension of abdomen; with flatulence better passing flatus. Pain in abdomen due to flatulence. Flatulence with heaviness of abdomen.
Rectum
Stool constipated, hard, difficult, dry. Loose watery stool with mucus and slight tenesmus.
Respiratory
Hoarseness of voice, worse after coughing. Wheezing and dry cough worse in the morning, evening and night. Dyspnoea worse in morning and evening. Dry cough spasmodic, barking, rattling worse morning. Cough with pain in chest. Paroxysmal cough with dyspnoea. Respiratory complaints from dust. Pain in throat and rattling in chest during cough. Cough followed by vomiting of mucus. Cough with thick expectoration; yellow, worse at night. Cough with dyspnoea and suffocation. Pain in chest worse after coughing.
Fever
Fever with chill, headache and rapid pulse worse at night.
Skin
Small reddish eruptions with itching worse at night.
