Alpha™- Liv Drops

Alpha – Liv Drops Due to high demand from the market, for a formulation in drops for the liver, apart from the syrup already available in the market, Schwabe India developed this product. Introduction The liver plays a key role in metabolism. It has anabolic and catabolic, exocrine and endocrine functions. The liver is a blood reservoir, filter and store of different substances (e.g. glycogen, vitamins). It is the site of serum protein (e.g. albumin, prothrombin, fibrinogen) and enzyme synthesis. Metabolic processes (e.g. bilirubin, hormone, carbohydrate and lipid turnover) and the removal of toxic products are important liver functions. 1 Hepatotoxins (e.g. alcohol, tetracycline, acetaminophen, fungal toxins, and anabolic steroids) can cause specific damage to liver cells. Toxic hepatitis may be clinically silent or severe enough to lead to the rapid development of hepatic failure. Clinical features include hepatomegaly, enzyme abnormalities, fever, abdominal pain, anorexia, nausea, vomiting and weight loss. In patients with underlying cirrhosis, manifestations of portal hypertension may predominate. Aversion to fatty food, abdominal discomfort, nausea and vomiting after meals may be symptoms of 2 cholelithiasis. Jaundice results from accumulation of bilirubin. It has non-hepatic as well as hepatic causes. Hyperbilirubinaemia may be due to abnormalities in the 3 formation, transport, metabolism or excretion of bilirubin. TM Alpha -Liv Drops aids recovery and normalisation of liver functions. Severe liver disease needs specialised treatment. Indications: Slow liver functions, fatty liver, and for supportive treatment of hepatocellular jaundice and toxic liver damage.

Homoeopathy and other AYUSH systems to be integrated with healthcare in UP

Integrating different therapies is taking place in different parts of the world. Following the trend, the Government of Uttar Pradesh is on the move towards integration. All systems of medicine and healing, including ayurveda, homoeopathy, naturopathy, as well as yoga would be integrated in the system in government hospitals and primary health centres across Uttar Pradesh. It is learnt that the programme would be funded under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

As per reports, in the first phase yoga and a therapeutic healthcare option would be tested in 27 districts and would later be integrated with a parallel health plan that includes other systems of medicines such as unani, homoeopathy and ayurveda. The project has been allocated Rs.25 crore, with the money also being utilised to purchase and distribute ayurvedic, unani and homoeopathic medicines. The programme would be available at all government district hospitals, primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centres (CHCs). The experiment would not only be keenly watched but would also be pathbreaking, an official said.  “Till now, the basis of all healthcare was largely the allopathic system. Something like this is being tried for the first time,” an official said.

There are more than 3,500 PHCs and 600-plus CHCs in Uttar Pradesh. Now, they would have full-time and some part-time experts from the parallel systems of medicine. Medicines, equipment and literature on the parallel systems would also be purchased. While there are more than 3,000 doctors and pharmacists related to ayurveda, homoeopathy and yoga, sources say they are usually under-utilised. “We hope things would change with the funding and clarity of focus,” Rajeev Sharma, a homoeopath, said.

NRHM Director Mukesh Meshram admitted there could be “practical problems” in integrating parallel streams into the core healthcare system, but said: “Not only yoga, homoeopathy and ayurveda, we will also be promoting naturopathy.” Recently, the state government undertook a study on the effectiveness of homoeopathic treatment of acute encephalitis syndrome (AES). If the results were useful in combating the disease, this could be taken up in a phased manner.

Homoeopathy`s successful battle against encephalitis in some AES affected districts of Andhra Pradesh was studied and its assimilation in the state`s initiative against AES was explored,” an official said. A proposal in this regard has been sent to the health department. Earlier, a detailed study of the AES strains was undertaken in the Gorakhpur division and experts had suggested that the disease be treated with the “slow induction of homoeopathic medicines such as Belladonna and Tuberculum,” the official added. Experts say the homoeopathic treatment may help in not only combating AES post-contraction but preventing its spread.

Recent Advancements in Basic Homeopathic Research – A Report on Two Significant Publication

In a study conducted at the Experimental Farm of the State University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, researchers investigated the impact of homeopathic treatments on piglets during the nursery phase. The study aimed to determine whether homeopathic agents could reduce fighting behavior, improve growth performance, and affect hematological, metabolic, and oxidative variables. The study included 108 weaned piglets divided into four groups: a negative control group receiving only the basal diet, and three groups receiving different homeopathic treatments at varying dosages.
