Abstract
Calcaneal spur is a bony growth that develops around the heel bone which is usually caused by poorly fitting shoes. It often affects middle and old age people with pain and pricking sensation in heel while walking. It produces discomfort and difficulty in undertaking day to day activities due to restricted mobility. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the role of Homeopathy in alleviating the pain and discomfort caused by Calcaneal spur. It also evaluated the co morbid factors that contributes the calcaneal spur formation and severity of symptoms. A Retrospective study was conducted to know the effectiveness of homeopathic remedies Ruta graveolens 30 CH and Calcarea Flour 6X in treating Calcaneal spur cases. 15 diagnosed cases were enrolled using simple random sampling technique. Cases were prescribed both Ruta graveolens 30 CH and Calcarea flour 6X for the period of 3 months. There was significant reduction in heel pain and swelling. X ray findings were suggestive of reduction and absence of Calcaneal spur. No adverse effects were recorded during the period of intervention.
