According to WHO the prevalence of anaemia is 14% in the developed countries and 51% in the developing countries. Half of the individuals with iron deficiency already suffer or have the chances to develop anaemia in future. Anaemia is a condition that occurs when the blood produces fewer healthy red blood cells than is normal. The body does not receive enough oxygen rich blood if one has anaemia. Many feel exhausted or weak due to a lack of oxygen. Common presentation of anaemia includes symptoms like weakness, fatigue, pallor, dryness of skin, lustreless hair and nails, anorexia, breathlessness, heartburn, collapsing pulse, palpitation, or neurological symptoms such as, tingling and numbness, insomnia, lack of concentration, etc. Females may experience amenorrhoea, menorrhagia, infertility, etc.
